Musical Taste

Firstly a little bit about my musical tastes, I used to be very open to anything but when I really started to listen to music it very quickly narrowed down. My first interests were sparked by video games, especially GTA Vice City which I have always had a soft spot for 80's music as it generally the music seemed to appeal to me more as it was usually upbeat.

After that I got more into the modern age divolgeing into rock music this time influenced by Grand Turismo 4, I came accross this song called Wow by Snow Patrol and eventually I bought my first 'real' CD - Final Straw. Which is probabily still one of my favorites along with there next release Eyes Open, I cannot recommend them enough they are albums that you can put on and listen to the whole way through without skipping tracks.

Anyway apart from that I now listen to rock radio and all my songs in media player are in the following genres; rock, alternative, indie, metal, other, slow rock, hard rock, punk or pop ... which is mostly 80's or rock anyway! Any mention of rap, rnb, dance trance and i completly switch off.

Update (2010)
Now reviewing this post over a year since posting and having lived away from home once agian my tastes are heading back in time. 70's rock music has grown on me more and my CD collection is far more diverse, still nothing that isn't rock but names such as The Doors, ZZ Top and Van Halen I now listen too alot.

Todays music just has no appeal to me and even a couple of years ago there used to be one or two songs I half liked in the charts but these days there is nothing. Bands like JLS where a surprise to me as I thought the country had seen enough of those cheesy 90's boy-band types but it appears it has come around agian.

However in all the modern musical depression there is a light, the fact that many bands are coming back and playing gigs again revives some of my faith in music. Bands such as Bad Company and ZZ Top, ELP playing the High Voltage Festival.
